Chigu (El Perro) Ortiz Bio

Chigu (El Perro) Ortiz gets his nick name from his aggressive approach on tracks and has been described as one of the most explosive Spanish lyricist in the game. He is a bilingual rap artist from Upstate NY that was born in Salinas Puerto Rico to a family rich in musical culture. In the mid 80s when his parents separated Chigu moved to Rochester N.Y. with his mother and older sister. That move would prove to be the main determining factor behind his biggest musical influences.
After years of dominating the local underground scene Chigu is ready to take the Spanish rap game to a new level. He is currently working hard and putting the finishing touches on what is described to be one of his most captivating, passionate projects to date.

Chigu is a former member of the once well established Rochester N.Y.Rap group Upstate Cypher who featured the most respected artist in upstate New York. They released an album in 2000 (Verbal Tongue Grenades) that to this day sold more units locally than any other group in the region.

What separates him from the pack of several bilingual rapers is the ability to able to deliver a strong lyrical content in Spanish 100% without adding any English words which would be considered Spanglish. When working on English projects the focus level, lyrical content, and results are the same.

After leaking several tracks early this year the anticipation and demand towards his music has increased. Memorable live performances have triggered a chain reaction of club owners and promoters rushing to get a front row seat to view his work. Due to the immediate impact and lasting impression he displays in his music, managers have started to book him throughout the year.
