Julissa Elise Jasmine Ruiz or as her fans know her "Eli Jas"
With her Chilean, Panamanian and Dominican heritage Eli Jas is the quintessential native New Yorker. Born in Chelsea, in the borough of Manhattan 20 year old "Eli Jas" Is shaking up the Latin Music Industry. Armed with R&B phrasing, Pop melodies and a sultry voice. Her mash up of pop production over Bachata grooves is incredibly infectious. The concept and style stems from "Eli Jas" herself. "I have had many musical influences in my life" she says. “In my home we listened to Pop, R&B and traditional Latin styles. Combining the genres' felt totally natural to me.”
From the moment you hear the first synth stab on her debut single "Tú Me Haces Volar" you sense you are about to encounter something extraordinary. “The energy and attitude of my music reflects the many emotions women go through.” ….... “when listening to my lyrics I want young women to be able to say, that’s exactly how I feel.”
While attending John Jay College Eli Jas had a change of heart. She decided to take some time off to pursue her dream of a career in the music industry. “I felt like i had to take the shot, I knew that this point in my life was my best opportunity, so I went for it.” …... Eli began studying with vocal coach Craig Derry and recording with a variety producers and songwriters. She hit her stride when she signed with All Akcess Entertainment. The management team at All Akcess teamed Eli Jas up with producer Chris Hierro. The collaboration turned magical. “Chris understood what I was looking for, we connected and immediately began writing together”. The first song we wrote was “Tu Me Haces Volar”.
Eli Jas is in the studio now completing her debut album. The Album tentatively titled “CHOOSE” is a love story. “It’s about the journey we all take once we enter into a relationship.” “The different emotions and trials we face while trying to make it all work.” ….. Her debut album is scheduled for a summer 2012 release. It will be released on the All Akcess imprint.
