Yomo Bio

Yomo
Yomo discovered his artistic talent when he was at school and began performing in school shows. Even though his interest in music was always a part of his life, it wasn't until 1994 when he decided to write his first song. The young man found out that composing was something that came out naturally, and a new artist was born.

Yomo began to sing in an underground level, without much exposure. The reggaeton genre was becoming popular in the metropolitan area, but not in Humacao where he lived. With hardly any connections it was more difficult for him to be known.

In 1998 Yomo decided to make a big change and moved to New York after getting married. He took the opportunity to learn English and kept on composing with the NY flow, but still wasn't enough to break as an artist.

Four years later he returns to his native island and slowly catches on with the music business. While performing at a tribute to Mejicano, he was spotted by OG Black and Master Joe who were very impressed with the young rapper. The duet invited him to perform with them in their shows around Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Orlando, New York, Tampa and Miami in the United States.

Yomo's energy on stage is what makes him shine and that energy came through during his presentation on another big event: the Vaquero Mix Showdown in Bayamon. It was there that Hector El Father got impressed with his stage projection.

El Father invited him to sign with his label and work with him, and that's how Yomo became Hector's protege in Sangre Nueva, Gold Star's compilation album dedicated to the new reggaeton generation.

"Dejale Caer To' El Peso" is the single written by the rising reggaeton artist and his introduction to the music business. The name of the track is a popular expression in Puerto Rico meaning to prove oneself, to show everything one has to a woman.

Hector El Father truly believes in Yomo's potential as an artist, and that's why he invited Yomo once again to join him and salsa star Victor Manuelle in the reggaeton ballad "No hay nadie" and together with Polaco in "Voy Subiendo". Both tracks are featured in Gold Star's new biggest hits compilation album.

Yomo is on its way to fulfill his destiny: to write his name among the best in the genre.
