CNN en Espanol to broadcast coverage of Mexico's presidential elections

CNN en Español will broadcast special coverage of Mexico's presidential elections. Starting Thursday, June 28th coverage will be transmitted from Zócalo, Mexico City, hosted by anchor Fernando del Rincon, with contributions from anchors Mario González and Carmen Aristegui, and correspondents Ray Rodríguez and Krupskaia Alis.

Between Monday, June 25th and Friday June 29th, CNN en Español's bureau team in Mexico will release stories throughout the network’s programming with live reports and updates from the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE).

On Sunday July 1st (Election Day), CNN en Español will broadcast live when polls open early in the morning, and will offer periodic updates through the day. Starting at 6pm (ET), Mirador Mundial will follow the latest developments with Del Rincón and González from Zócalo, as well as Rodríguez and Alis from the IFE headquarters (Mexican electoral authority). CNN en Español will carry results live as soon as they are announced. At 10pm (ET), CNN en Español will air a special edition of México Opina, which will offer insights and analysis into the preliminary results announced by the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE).

During the elections, voters will elect a new President of the Republic to serve a six-year term, replacing then Mexican President Felipe Calderón. At the same time, there will be elections to choose 500 members to serve a three-year term in the Chamber of Deputies, and 128 members to serve a six-year term in the Senate.

Other elections for local ballots will be held the same day, including the election of a new Head of Government and new Legislative Assembly of the Federal District, and the Gubernatorial elections in the states of Guanajuato, Jalisco, and Morelos.
