METHODOLOGY
A dual-frame RDD sample with a split landline frame was employed to achieve a representative sample of all Latino telephone households in the United States. Sample was drawn by MSG from a commercial database of over 4.5 million Latino households identified by Latino surname. This sample was augmented with a landline sample that was stratified into three partitions: High probability Latino households (exchanges with a minimum estimated 50% probability of reaching a Latino household, Medium probability exchanges (exchanges with a minimum estimated 25% probability of reaching a Latino household and Low probability exchanges (all remaining exchanges). No stratification procedure was used for the cell phone sample.
The sample was also divided among four custom geographic “regions” as follows:
ATLANTIC: All states that border the Atlantic Ocean (plus Pennsylvania) from New York to Florida.
LATINO WEST: Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Colorado and Utah
CALIFORNIA
REST OF COUNTRY
The data were weighted using demographic targets for gender, age, education and region of the countryderived from the US Census.
Interviews were conducted in Spanish or English as required or requested by the respondent.
