The popular Puerto Rican reggaeton star Don Omar will make a dream come true next year when he appears on the Hollywood screen as part of the cast of "The Fast and The Furious," with his friend, US actor Vin Diesel.

Don Omar will be part of this new production thanks to the friendship he developed with Diesel, who starred in "The Fast and The Furious" in 2001 and will start a new chapter in the action saga next year.

"I really like acting, now I have to send a demo tape to Hollywood," Don Omar said, pointing out that if all goes well, he’ll have to change his work schedule since he’ll be taking intensive acting courses in March.

Don Omar hopes to create a non-profit organization to give scholarships to students with artistic talent, as part of an initiative supported by the governor of Puerto Rico, Aníbal Acevedo Vilá.

"When I was growing up it was different, if you live in the country, after three in the afternoon you don’t have very positive options around you," said Don Omar.

Recently, the competition between reggaeton stars Daddy Yankee and Don Omar inspired a poll. Fans were asked whether they thought there was really a truce between the artists: 55% believe the conflict is in the past, while 45% think they continue to have problems.

Don Omar said he wasn’t very happy with Yankee’s behavior, and showed his disagreement in an untitled song. The song was just improvised and there are no plans to include it on an album.

Yankee defended himself, saying Don Omar had become a "rock in his shoe," saying he hasn’t been able to perform at various events because of him.

Don Omar somewhat confirmed this, saying Yankee paid 200 thousand dollars to remove him from the Presidente de la República Festival which will be celebrated next October 15.

However, Daddy Yankee’s representative denied this statement and said he has never paid to remove anyone from a performance.

The rumor gained strength in Puerto Rico when Don Omar didn’t show up to sing the Puerto Rican national anthem at a boxing match in New York, because Yankee supposedly didn’t want to share the stage with him.
