Another summer has passed us, ladies and gentleman! Along with it was an interesting season at the movies with the obvious titles raking in serious doe!
From bashing with his touch within THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, to severe praise with MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, director Joss Whedon left a pretty interesting mark among Hollywood that’ll live on for years to come – especially considering Marvel Studios / Disney’s outlook with a massive expansion pertaining to all our favorite Marvel-based heroes.
Marc spun an interesting Webb with the reboot of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, proving starting from scratch – if done right – can serve a positive purpose!
Christopher Nolan ends his DARK KNIGHT Trilogy with an interesting outcome, and although THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will forever be a “tarnished title,” this heavy-hitting saga will always remain as one of the best Bat-man cinematic series to exist whether you disagree or not!
In between, films like TED solidify well written, R-rated, harsh comedies makes us laugh the most – especially those collecting $cratch, while seemingly profitable, casting Kirsten Stewart (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN) isn’t always praised, and how awesome was it to view Manhattan bike messengers roll through the streets of NYC while being chased by a crooked cop in PREMIUM RUSH?!
Adding to this web of film-strips…the biggest shocker was Paramount’s lack of confidence with G.I. JOE: RETALIATION! Knowing it was going against some well-praised titles, and realizing when it came to substance, the film had nothing going for it, they decide to tweak things a bit by rewriting/re-shooting some scenes, and push its release date to March, 2013.
Overall, going to the movies is always a nice way to cool off during those hot, humid days of summer! As fall and winter approaches, there are some studios (I.e. Columbia, Screen Gems, Open Road, Disney, Paramount etc) releasing some titles I’m sure will cause a buzz prior to 2013 – some in your own DVD and/or Blu-ray player!

RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION – Release Date Sept. 14th.

HOTEL TRANSLYVANIA – Release Date Sept. 28th.
Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free to be the monsters they are without humans to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula has invited some of the world's most famous monsters -- Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more -- to celebrate his daughter Mavis's 118th birthday. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem -- but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.
MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS Blu-ray Combo Pack – Release Date Sept. 25th.

LOOPER – Release Date Sept. 28th.
In the future, time travel will be invented - but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a "looper" - a hired gun, like Joe - is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good until the day the mob decides to "close the loop," sending back Joe's future self for assassination.
