Cristina: "Did you always want to be a singer?"
Indio: "Well in reality I wanted to be a professional boxer, I've always been athletic. I played minor league baseball too. But once I got a taste of music through Domingo Quinones I caught the music bug. I met Domingo on a Friday and on Monday I was already in the studio."
Cristina: "Where did you get your name "Indio" from?
Indio: "My father used to call me that as a kid. I'm one of nine children. All of my sisters and brother are all light skinned. And I'm total opposite, dark skin and straight hair."
Cristina: What artists have inspired you as an artist and in your music?
Indio: "Definitely El Papa de La Salsa, Frankie Ruiz. It's like he had candy in his throat. Plus I identify a lot with him because we have a lot in common. He's Paterson breed like me."
Cristina: "How would you describe your style of salsa? What makes your salsa different to what's out now?"
Indio: "Salsa is stagnant right now. Salseros want to keep it the same. I want to switch it up. I mean look at me, people look at me and automatically think I'm a rocker. 80% of my body is tattooed and I have a pierced lip. I'm more of a lover when I sing. I'm singing to you and I bring you in and then it's time to cut up the rug and dance. I'm definitely not afraid to take a risk and step outside of the box. I definitely bring a whole new flavor to salsa. Para mi no es cantar, es encarntarle a la gente. That's what I live by."
Cristina: "What message do you want to convey with your music?
Indio: "My flavor. I'm bringing it MY WAY! I'm not trying to be like any other artist. I'm trying to be Indio. I'm going to be around for a long time. Me vas a ver hasta en la sopa!"
Cristina: "Are there any artist that you are looking forward to working with in the future?"
Indio: "I've already worked with Brenda K. Starr on the Remix to Quiero Amara A Otra, but I definitely look forward to working with Pitbull"
Cristina: "Any plans in the near future for a tour? Where can we go check you out?"
Indio: "Definitely! Soon I'll be in Buffalo, New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. And I'll be out on promotion out of the country."
