MOVIE-TRAILERS: Crash Course On Upcoming Flix

For as long as I can remember, film trailers (and posters) have been a vital part in developing my feelings for a film. Of course as the saying goes “You can’t judge a book by its cover,” so I can’t lie and say I’ve been either encouraged or discouraged based on either advertisement, but it does carry a vital push within its success… not only in the sense of grasping interest, but also setting the tone of serving as a strong piece to have a lasting affect throughout the year to reach Oscar nominations or accomplishing a certain amount of revenue and notoriety for possible sequel/franchise or simply carry a lonesome kind of “cult-like” appeal. Whether that happens or not depends on the film itself of course, but without a presentable and appealing sample… it’s merely impossible.

The purposes of trailers (or previews) are plugs for feature films that will be exhibited in the future at local cinemas, on whose screens they are shown. The term “Trailer” comes from back in the day when having originally been shown at the end of a feature. That act did not last too long because for the most part, the audience tended to leaving the theater after the films ended, but the name has stuck. Trailers are now shown before the film (or the A movie) begins.

Movie trailers have now become extremely popular on the internet. Of some 10-Billion videos watched online annually, movie trailers rank #3, after news and user-created video. The era of modern technology has catapulted film popularity (among other artistic outlets) that’s caused the leading of doubling or tripling their marketed popularity, hence setting its pace which has had Hollywood studios, executives and others taking the world of the internet just as serious as any other media outlet/tabloid.

In the end, you draw your own conclusion (as mentioned when reading my reviews) because when push-comes-to-shove, it’s your hard-earned dollars.

OUR FAMILY WEDDING

"Our marriage, their wedding." It's lesson number one for any newly engaged couple, and Lucia and Marcus are no exception. They learn the hard way that the path to saying "I do" can be rife with familial strife. When they return from college and too suddenly announce their marriage plans, they soon discover that their fathers - two highly competitive over-the-top egos - can wreak a major amount of havoc on their special day. But when he suffers a cardiac failure on the job, he awakens to find himself fitted with the company's top-of-the-line heart-replacement... as well as a hefty debt. But a side effect of the procedure is that his heart's no longer in the job. When he can't make the payments, The Union sends its toughest enforcer, Remy's former partner Jake, to track him down. Now that the hunter has become the hunted, Remy joins Beth, another debtor who teaches him how to vanish from the system. And as he and Jake embark on a chase across a landscape populated by maniacal friends and foes, one man will become a reluctant champion for thousands on the run.

GROWN UPS

Five friends and former teammates reunite years later to honor the passing of their childhood basketball coach. With their wives and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier. Picking up where they left off, they discover why growing older doesn't mean growing up.
