Nacional Records Celebrates Four Latin Grammy Nominations

Nacional represents superstar acts such as Manu Chao, Tom Tom Club and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, plus rising stars like Ana Tijoux, Diego Garcia, Astro and Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich + Fussible. This past summer, Nacional Records released the first-ever Starbucks compilation of modern Latin music, ‘Café Con Musica’, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard World and Latin Pop charts.
Kinky's twice-nominated album ‘Sueño De La Maquina’ has been featured by NPR and NY Times. The new album from the Latin alternative pioneers was produced and mixed by legendary Dust Brother John King, who has produced Beck, Rolling Stones and Beastie Boys. The album was mastered by Howie Weinberg, whose credits include iconic albums like Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Nirvana’s Nevermind and U2’s Pop. The album features collaborations with Mala Rodriguez and Dante Spinetta from Illya Kuryaki.
Ana Tijoux’s critically acclaimed album ‘La Bala’ was recently featured on NPR Music's "Best Songs of 2012 (So Far)" and NPR Listeners' 'Favorite Albums of 2012', and hit #1 on iTunes Latino Hip-Hop charts. 'La Bala' is Tijoux's follow-up to her GRAMMY-nominated debut '1977,' which was featured in the hit TV program 'Breaking Bad.' Recently featured in Time's '10 Female Emcees You Should Know,' Ana Tijoux's new album has been a hit with fans and critics alike, with the Los Angeles Times writing: "La Bala is Tijoux's magnum opus, perhaps the most sumptuous album that rap en español has known."
San Pascualito Rey's 'Valiente' is nominated for 'Best Rock Album.' The veteran Mexico City-based band is known for their characteristic fusion of rock with electronic rhythms, layered with folkloric influences and romantic lyrics. Named after a venerated folk saint known as the "King of the Graveyard," San Pascualito Rey's fourth album 'Valiente' features production from Toy Selectah (Control Machete, 3BallMTY) and Maurizio Terrazina (Zurdok).
