Optimus A.R.C.A - Review

Besides the stupid mixtape name and his music based on bravado, Arcangel has managed to bring his own brand of music back in the forfront in the end of 2010. This thirteen track mixtape is much less magical than his first release "La Maravilla". There are less tracks that actually capture you like "La Maravilla" did. Not to say that this mixtape is bad, but its definitely not up to par with what I would expect from the likes of him.

I always find it weird in the genre of Reggaeton where artists use the "N" word or vulgarities like "MotherF*cker" and such. I dont think there is really a need for words like that in a genre that was geared towards women and dancing. As the mixtape progresses, I cant imagine who gave the green light to name this project "Optimus A.R.C.A".

The beats seem to just pass you by. You can still do the usual headnod, but in my humble opinion, I dont hear any track that is really a stand out besided "Tu No Estas" and "Dime La Verdad".

Although his official release of "Sentimiento, Elegancia y Maldad" is slated to be released in 2011, This is a good solid mixtape to create a buzz for his album. I am definitely looking forward to that. This prelude is a solid mixtape, but falls short of being a classic mixtape.
