The CorrienteLatina.com PodCast is mixed bi-weekly by none other than Dj Calle. Dj Calle is a well respected young DJ and is the C.E.O of Calle Entertainment.
Edwin "Calle" Macklin was born on April 12th, 1989 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Raised by a White Father & Puerto Rican Mother, Edwin (Calle) was open to a wide spread of music. His mother would mix her Latin Freestyle, salsa, bachata, merengue, r&b, and rap with his fathers classic rock. Growing up, Edwin had no thought's of ever choosing to be a dj or producer as a career. Although Edwin had a family full of Dj's and had Dj'ed one before when he was younger, pursuing a career in this field never crossed his mind. The first reggaeton song that Edwin heard, was Tego Calderon's - "Pa Que Retozen."
English being Edwin's first and primary language, this new style of spanish music and reggae in general took Edwin by surprise and Edwin soon fell in love with it. English still being Edwin's primary language, he tried so hard to understand what the artist's were saying, combining what he already knew in Spanish with what he was hearing. Edwin actually learned how to speak Spanish and understand more Spanish while listening to reggaeton. Soon later Edwin decided to start blending his cousin's rap, with some of his reggaeton.
Since then, Edwin knew what he wanted to have as a career and pursued Dj'ing to the fullest extent! At the age of 15, with is own earned money, Edwin released his 1st mix cd. This mix CD jump started Edwin's career and got him connected with several labels. Following the release of this Mix CD, Edwin decided to pursue producing as well. Edwin is now 18 and has the world on top of his shoulders and his friends and family behind him to keep striving on his musical career. With the assistance of Edwin's Partner, "DJ Cangrix" Edwin's company "Calle ENT" Has been able to have a long and successful run so far! Also, with the help of family friend and colleague, Chosen Few Emerald's "Dj Hostile", Edwin has been successful in his dreams of becoming a producer and DJ. Edwin is still young and is one of the next best things to look out for!
