"Prinz" Lee Romero
Bilingual Staff Writer, Film Critic & Marketing Coordinator'Prinz' Lee Romero is a New York City native with Colombian and Puerto Rican roots. For years jumping from job to job, he could no longer suppress his love for film. Having given up contemplating it, he dove into some severe research and ventured out into the world of acting. Following a couple of years of training (The Actors Alliance NYC), auditions, booking jobs – which included bilingual voice-over work, his love of acting not only satisfied a certain desire, but also opened him up to other facets within the film business.
While rendering acting services, his new interest was centralized within the art of writing. Reading script after script and wondering about creating his own stories – whether cinematic or not, he spent most of his down time doing just that. Writing up little fantasy stories, to sharpening up strange dreams he’d have and jot down, all through stating straight-forward opinions regarding films, Lee’s writing was open, free and willing to be shared. Having supplied a few of his filmmaking friends with skits to shoot, the point of his first artistic interest slowly shifted. With no limits in sight, his writing pertains to skits, small stories, film reviews and poems. Having jumped from eyes to eyes, his writing secured the interest of a Latino-based entertainment website (Corriente Latina) where he now serves as a Bilingual Staff Writer, Film Critic and Marketing Coordinator.
His work also landed him a gig on a web-based radio show for Urban Latino Radio based out of Brooklyn which ran all of 2009. Lee started off with a segment based on reviewing films for about a minute or two, and through personality and expressing thoughts on topics, led to doing away with film reviews, and serving as a full-fledged cast member for the show. The gig entailed a lot of writing and sincere views on current events – whether serious, comedic or neutral sarcasm.
While venturing out on his writing journey, another facet of film caught his eye – the process of piecing a film together. While providing small writing samples for his filmmaking friends, he also provided work behind-the-scenes. Doing away – not for good – with acting, juggling duties as writer and lending a hand as P.A., Script Supervisor or talent coordinator, his new source of duties led to a solid line of work. Through word-of-mouth, a mutual friend introduced him to a film producer (Emelyn Stuart / Stuart Films) which in a matter of time and meetings, landed him work with the film company. Recent projects include a short titled HEADS or TAILS where he rendered services as Continuity/Script Supervisor, and an up-and-coming web-series titled BOYZ, GIRLZ & SPARKZ where he served as 1st AD (Assistant Director) and Associate Producer. Both projects are currently in post-production and set to be released 2011.
Lee recently landed another writing job with an entertainment-based site (Starpulse), and always curious and willing to try something new, it’s only a matter of time before we hear or learn something new about him within the art of filmmaking.
