THE ROCK: Moving 'FASTER' and furious against Vin Diesel in Puerto Rico
Posted by: "Prinz" Lee Romero Posted: 08-13-2010Originally categorized as the next action-hero, this brother took an unexpected turn. I mean I’m not knocking the guy for allowing DISNEY to lube up and have their way with him – money talks and bullshit walks – but I recall a specific fan-base thrilled at the thought of this man taking over as a contemporary Schwarzenegger, Willis or even Stallone. Much of what was expected from this guy fizzled quickly and left that force feeding of our “next” action-hero feeling like empty calories. Yes, he had a string of okay flicks as I’m sure we all enjoyed “The Rundown,” “Walking Tall” and “Doom” – which sucked by the way and all these pretty much followed a storm of earlier hits like “The Scorpion King” or his Cherry-popping film in “The Mummy’s” sequel.
I’ve always heard you’re only as good as your last project and when I saw his follow ups like “The Game Plan,” “Race to Witch Mountain” and “The Tooth Fairy,” I was scratching my head and wondering where exactly was this man going. I respect and can tolerate to a certain degree the feeling of having to cater to your younger fans – especially his daughter, nieces and nephews, but come on! You’re the fucking “ROCK” and I think it’s time you live up to what Hollywood polished you off to be… an action-hero!
Well, the time has come where I think he and his people may have come to their senses and realized the man needed to be back-on-track. This coming fall (November) Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson stars in an Action/Adventure Thriller titled “Faster” – After 10 years in prison, Driver (Johnson) has a singular focus - to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his imprisonment. Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he's finally on his mission... but with two men on his trail - a veteran cop just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hitman with a flair for the art of killing and a newfound worthy opponent. The hunter is also the hunted. It's a do or die race to the list's finish as they mystery surrounding his brother's murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver's list may be incomplete. The film also stars Billy Bob Thorton.
FASTER: Trailer
Seven months after the release of “Faster,” the fifth installment of one of Hollywood’s most profitable franchises also releases. Of course things can change, but as we speak next summer we’re looking at another film which involves “The Rock” and this time around he’ll be going toe-to-toe with Vin Diesel. Yes, ladies and gentleman, the fifth in the “Fast and the Furious” series the stakes are raised when Vin comes back as “Dom” and ventures out once again in a controversial game of catch-me-if-you-can along side his boys Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson and Latin-American Hip-Hop/ Reggaeton artists “Tego” and “Don Omar.” The film – already on principal photography – is set in Puerto Rico. With much of the island’s beauty, cultural strength and beautiful people, one knows it’ll be shot with much intensity and passion. Much isn’t known regarding the plot, but rest assured testosterone will be flaring like a pack of ravenous wolves.
On-set photo stills of “The Rock” and gang were leaked this week.

What!? You have something to say!?
Cocked and ready to blow!
The “Fast and the Furious” series has always been a roller-coaster ride. Like “The Expendables,” it’s always loose on plot, but for films like these, why bother...? All that matters is that there’s sex and violence. Every film within this franchise has had both and worked out beautifully… for them of course… it’s not like you or I benefit from it. Overall, they pretty much give you what they’re supposed to, and that’s take you into an adventurous journey of good guys versus bad guys. I’m sure this one will be fun to watch as “The Rock” goes against “The Vin” – No doubt like “Twilight,” this will have its own teams and whether you’re with team “Rock” or “Vin” it’ll bring in a pretty large crowd – especially women!
I’m out!
