Game of Thrones review: Season 5 Episode #4 – Sons of the Harpy

game of thrones 2

The imp has gone missing, the Queen’s all make a move, a vengeful lover prepares for war and an exiled former ally reappears.  Gear up lords and ladies because it’s Sunday and you know what that means…an ALL new episode of Game of Thrones is coming!  Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Bronn (Jerome Flynn) journey to Dorne in order to locate his niece Myrcella (who is actually his daughter, but who can he tell that he fathered the children of his twin sister?  They would ALL be shunned and put to death!) and bring her back home where she can be safe.  God speed Lord Jamie because your niece/daughter is an innocent and should not be put in harms way because of the bitch her mother is.

Do you remember Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen)?  He was principal advisor to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) before she exiled him last season.  It seems he may have found an angle into getting back into the Queen’s good graces.  Enter Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) who you may recall was taken captive at the end of last week’s episode (that was Jorah who took him).  Seeing how Tyrion was already traveling with Varys to Meereen, Jorah (though with good intentions) may have wasted his time.  We’ll just have to wait and see, but thank God there are still 6 more episodes left to go so we may get the answer before the season ends.

Speaking of Queens, as Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) weaves her carefully crafted web, her plans (though I’m unsure exactly what her end game is yet) continue to take shape and as they do someone close to Queen Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) gets caught in the crossfire.  Will the Queen who’s power is fading succeed against the new Queen who’s power and influence continue to rise?  I’m rooting for Margaery because the reign of Cersei MUST come to an end dammit!

Speaking of end, if Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) has her way that’s exactly what Cersie will get soon enough.  Ellaria was paramour of the late Prince Oberyn Martell who was killed last season.  She continues to fuel her hatred for the Lannisters over Oberyn’s death and if she has her way (and I’m hoping she does) Dorne will bring chaos upon the lands.  Will she succeed?  It’s too early to tell but this much is certain…she could very well be the thing that starts what could be the begining of the end  of the reign of Cersei Lannister.  RSVP me for a front row seat cuz I do NOT want to miss that day!

Back in Meereen The Sons of the Harpy continue their stealth attacks on Daenerys and her people.  WHY musy they continue to mess with my Queen, the Mother of Dragons?  The latest attack will put Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) in harms way, but can he best his attackers and prevail?  I HOPE so because of ALL of the people who follow Daenerys, Grey Worm is my favorite so NOBODY better mess with my worm!  Tune in tonight for an all new episode of Game of Thrones at 9pm on HBO.
