Recap: Garance x Cointreau La Soiree #NYFW 2015

September 11- The second day of NYFW is in full swing with runaway shows, parties, pop up shops and more. On Spring Street, Union Bar and Kitchen (UBK) was the hotspot for the night with a pop up event hosted by French Photographer, Fashion Writer and Illustrator Garance Dore. Cointreau was the french liquor sponsor for The Garance Dore Cafe, which served signature drinks and hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening. The pop up was free and open to the public with RSVP (21 and over to attend). Due to the venue space and popular demand, there was a line with a wait time for entry. I stood online for no more than 20 minutes and was nicely greeted by Ms. Garance.
Throughout the evening, she graciously checked on all guests inside and outside the venue. There was a checklist and confirmation emails had to be shown upon entry. Once inside, there was live music and a full crowd that was standing and sitting. A stage displayed with Garance’s art was at the front of the venue. Garance’s art was for sale and selections included accessories and wall art. Some of the highlights of the night were stand up comedians including Michelle and Carmen. Each comedian performed 10 minute routines, which were very raunchy and non stop laughter. Michelle has a comedy album “Shut Up” on itunes for purchase. For an intimate setting and low key spot, it made NYFW even nicer than the expected and usual craziness.
The three day event was held only at UBK with a two part series each day. For Garance’s art and blog, visit http://www.garancedore.fr/en/.
