Claiming More Than $1,000,000 In Punitive Damages
Juan Luis Morera Luna, the urban Latin music superstar known as Wisin, has filed additional paperwork in a Miami-Dade Circuit Court against former manager Armando Lozano of ZZinc Group that seeks more than $1,000,000 in punitive damages. According to the court documents, this amount is on top of the money Wisin alleges Lozano owes him for claims of breach of fiduciary duties, breach of management agreement, and additional claims stemming from Mr. Lozano’s services as Wisin’s personal manager from 2014-2015.
In the lawsuit, Wisin alleges over that time that Lozano improperly collected, diverted and misappropriated royalties as well as live performance fees and expenses. Wisin also alleges that Lozano acted illegally as an unlicensed talent agency in violation of Florida Law. The Grammy-Award winning artist is requesting disgorgement of all money collected during their working relationship in addition to punitive damages.
Wisin is represented by Richard C. Wolfe of Wolfe Law Miami. “This is an important case that demonstrates the harm that can occur to an artist who puts blind trust in a business or personal manager who controls the artist’s money,” Wolfe said.
The case is pending before Judge Thomas Rebull.
