Film Director and Music Photographer, Danny Hastings, among seven hometown honorees. Special performance by trailblazing hip-hip duo, The Beat Nuts Lineup Includes Burlesque, Latin Rock, Classic Hip-hop and Pop Urbano.

Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey is bringing its celebrated Neighborhood Flavor series to Queens, New York, regarded as one of the most diverse cities in the world, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, to salute individuals whose influence uplifts the Hispanic community in the areas of music, art, culture, film, business, and taste.  

A curated list of boldly creative local artisans and vendors will serve as the centerpiece of the event, giving attendees the opportunity to journey through the best of the borough. The sense-rousing experience includes a variety of Latin fare, set amidst a visual cocktail of live street art installations mused by celebrated muralist, TECK, Nicholai Khan  and the legendary, Louie “KR.One” Gasparro.

On this night, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey  will toast to the accomplishments of seven Latinx who are fierce with both purpose and flavor, including pioneering Panamanian-Mexican filmmaker, photographer and Official Latino Short Film Festival, founder, Danny Hastings and trailblazing hip-hop duo, The Beat Nuts.

Others being honored for their impact include Kat Lazo, vlogger and video producer, currently at we are mitú; Richard Chiriboga, award-winning digital media leader and founder of CorrienteLatina.com; Rebecca Gitana Torres, interior design expert, activist and creator of the show, Lifestyle Remix; Samantha Diaz, internationally recognized fusion dancer; and Sebastian Morel-Ferreira, national fitness expert.

Hastings, who will also serve as event host, is widely respected for his creative collaborations and album cover artwork for the likes of Jay-Z, WuTang Clan, Eminem, Big Pun, and Nas, which have been watermarked as visual Hip-hop history. He’s also steered projects for chart-topping Latino musicians including, Marc Anthony, Prince RoyceGerardo Ortiz, Romeo Santos and Aventura, among others. Through his lens, his visionary concepts create platforms for emerging artists and highlight the importance of inclusion in Hollywood.

The Corona and Jackson Heights bred duo behind the vibatious rap hits, “Watch Out Now” and “Off the Books”,  the Beat Nuts, will headline the invite-only showcase. Producer-rappers, Jerry ‘JuJu’ Tineo and Lester ‘Psycho Les’ Fernandez have formed an impressive song catalog, including producing tracks for Common, MC Lyte, Naughty by Nature,  and Fat Joe.

Peruvian world music dancer, Samantha Diaz will allure with her signature mélange of styling, burlesque, belly dance, samba, flamenco, Bollywood, and hip-hop, skills derived from the rich melting pot of her Queens backyard. Emerging artists, Colombian urban-pop singer, Evenny and Ecuadorian Latin rock band, TeoriaQ, will also take the stage, further laminating the areas wide-ranging talent.

This private event for Jack Daniel’s VIPs will take place at a stunning venue in Long Island City’s bustling creative community.

In 2016 the Brooklyn, New York installment of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Neighborhood Flavor spotlighted the artistry of musicians Talib Kweli, Nitty Scott, Ro James, Joell Ortiz and more. The series launched in Detroit and has made stops in Philadelphia and Los Angeles.
