Room 28, a collective of Latino comedic talent, presents their special sketch comedy showcase for the first time ever at El Museo del Barrio in NYC on Wednesday, September 21st at 8pm. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the performance, billed as “A Collection of Fan Favorites,’ will feature some of their most popular
live sketches, and a compilation of their videos. In addition, the event will include cameos from notable personalities in show business.
”Since our first performance in March, 2014, we have consistently been working hard to build and make our live shows the best they can be for the fans. We are operating in a truly underserved space, and are aiming to break the mold of what sketch comedy looks like. It will be an honor to perform on a stage that has hosted some of the city’s most notable performers and contemporaries, such as Rita Moreno and Junot Diaz,” says Rachel “Loca” Strauss-Muniz, co-producer and actress of Room 28.
In the near future, Room 28’s special blend of comedy will extend beyond the stage, and come through your airwaves, as part of Sirius XM’s “Que Funny!”–a new 24/7 bilingual channel showcasing Latino comedians from around the country. The troupe has also recently been invited to be a part of the long-time running 2016 New York Comedy Festival, taking place November 1 – 6, across the 5 boroughs of New York City. In addition, earlier this year, Room 28 was selected to be a part of Broadway Videos’ “Mas Mejor,” a premium online comedy studio powered by Latino voices, including Saturday Night Live alums, Horatio Sanz and Fred Armisen.
‘A Night at El Museo’ is sponsored by President Beer and Johnnie Walker, with more partners to be announced. Tickets are on sale at www.room28comedy.com/showtime.
