"Review: Dear Basketball (Kobe Bryant’s inspiring poem) Short #Tribeca2017"

From the moment
I started rolling my dad’s tube socks
And shooting imaginary
Game-winning shots
In the Great Western Forum
I knew one thing was real:

I fell in love with you. – Kobe Bryant

Glen Keane

When passion, perseverance, talent and most of all true love for something guides your life you know that you have truly accomplished something great. I think that goes from basketball to anything you really do in your life. I am a web developer so I could feel the passion and love that Kobe has for the game of basketball although I am no where near retirement.

Considered one of the greatest basketball players to ever touch the court, Kobe Bryant’s career has been a fantastic one from start to finish. After 20 years his retirement was beautifully conducted as the “Dear Basketball” poem.

Now the Poem has a new medium

This unique short is a Kobe Inspired poem “Dear Basketball” narrated by none other than Kobe himself. The pencil sketch drawings by veteran animation director Glen Keane are the perfect canvas to envelope that child in all of us that at one time or another imagined hitting the game winning shot or hit that great homerun to win the game.

I always find it fascinating how words, imagery and music create such a magical marriage on the screen and this one is no exception. Sports fans and poetry lovers alike will love this six minute short.
