Sol Pereyra returns with her fourth album Prendete (Out NOW on Sol Pereyra Musica/Cosmica Label Services).
Pereyra who has not shied away from singing about current events, has already released 2 singles from her latest long player: “La Impositiva” and “Flores Salvajes.” Both reflect an important sense of self worth, and a biting commentary which creates a point of entry for the listener to be educated while being entertained.
In the case of “Flores Salvajes” Pereyra tackles the subject of violence against women in Latin America in particular but ultimately is universal in it’s message- resonating within this global epidemic. Pereyra puts pen to paper, song to tape on a subject rarely confronted in the Latina(o) world of music. She does not shy away from difficult and serious subject matter but also sprinkle’s her brand of self effacing humor, and keen sense of pop and socio-economic trends.
The Mexico City- based Argentine singer songwriter has kept up a torrid pace of promotion in her native country and has created a buzz in other territories such as Brazil, Chile, and her adopted country of Mexico. Having performed in the United States at such prestigious venues as SXSW (Austin, TX), Levitt Pavilion (Los Angeles, CA), The Musical Instrument Museum (Phoenix, AZ), and The Independent (San Francisco, CA), Sol looks to return to the United States this summer to show off her new collection of songs, and to have a frank discussion on the events effecting us all.
