The San Diego-based ska, punk, and cumbia band Marujah release their new holiday single and video “Echate Un Tamal Esta Navidad” (“Eat a Tamale This Christmas”). Featuring guest artist Dr. Shenka from renowned Mexican ska and rock band Panteón Rococó, the song is an energetic ode to the Mexican and Latino holiday tradition of preparing and consuming tamales. Enzo Villaparedes, also a member from Panteón Rococó, collaborated with the musical arrangements for the song. The single is available in music video format as well as on all digital platforms.
Equal parts rock, reggae, Latin, punk, and stoner rock, the originally based in Nashville, Tennessee, Marujah has been mesmerizing fans with pulse-pounding live sets and hard-hitting bilingual releases since 2008. The five-piece band has performed with renowned alternative artists from Latin America in both the United States and Mexico including Julieta Venegas, Bomba Estéreo, Panteón Rococó, El Tri, and Inspector. Their most recent album Guerrero was released in 2015 and features the hit single “Realidad“.
“Echate Un Tamal Esta Navidad” will be featured on Marujah’s upcoming new album set for release in the first quarter of 2017. Also, stay tuned for the announcement of Marujah’s 2017 tour dates in the United States and Mexico.
