Sony Latin/Latium recording artists/DJ/producer duo,Play-N-Skillz have become an unstoppable force within the music industry, breaking down barriers and crossing over genres with their infectious beats and versatile collaborations. It’s no surprise that the brothers have once again found themselves on the list of finalists for the Billboard Latin Music Awards. The finalists were revealed yesterday, and for the second year in a row, the 2x Grammy-winning duo have made the list of finalists for Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year, Duo or Group.
2017 was a chart-topping year for Play-N-Skillz with the success of their hit single, “Si Una Vez” featuring Frankie J, Wisin & Leslie Grace (Spanish version) or Becky G & Kap G(English version). The song, a modern remake of the classic Selena hit, spent 23 weeks on the charts and peaked at #2 on Latin Digital Song Sales as well as crossing over and breaking into both the Rhythmic and Mainstream Top 40 charts. The single also became one of the most Shazam’d songs of the year, spending numerous weeks at #1 on their respective chart.
Play-N-Skillz are no strangers when it comes to awards and accolades. The Texas natives first created a name for themselves in the Hip-Hop and EDM music scene in the early 2000s with hits such as “Ridin’ (Dirty)” by Chamillionaire and “Got Money” for Lil Wayne, both of which earned them GRAMMY Awards. Also collaborating with international names such asDavid Guetta, Nicki Minaj, and many more.
The exciting news of their second career Latin Billboard nomination comes on the heels of the monumental release of their latest song, “Azukita” in which they join forces with internationally acclaimed DJ, Steve Aoki, Latin music icon, Daddy Yankee, and the legendary, Elvis Crespo. Play-N-Skillz are also gearing up for the release of their new single through their label, Sony Latin/Latium set to drop in March. The brothers continue to lend their talents in the studio to many of music’s biggest names, all leading up to the release of their highly anticipated star-studded Latin debut album slated for release in 2018.
Of Argentine and Venezuelan heritage, the Dallas-native brothers Juan “Play” Salinas and Oscar “Skillz” Salinas possess a deep understanding of hip-hop and EDM, and their production and co-writing credits include the genres’ most important artists, including Lil Wayne, David Guetta, Lil Jon and Akon. They’re also the producers and co-writers of the massive Chamillionaire hit “Ridin’ Dirty,” which was awarded a GRAMMY® in 2007.
