Academy Award winners Robert De Niro (â€œRaging Bull,â€ â€œSilver Linings Playbookâ€) and Anne Hathaway (â€œLes MisÃ©rables,â€ â€œThe Devil Wears Pradaâ€) star together in Warner Bros. Picturesâ€™ â€œThe Intern,â€ which began filming today in New York. Oscar-nominated and award-winning filmmaker Nancy Meyers (â€œItâ€™s Complicated,â€ â€œSomethingâ€™s Gotta Give,â€ â€œPrivate Benjaminâ€) is directing the comedy from her own screenplay.
Meyers is also producing the film, together with Scott Rudin and Suzanne Farwell. Celia Costas is serving as executive producer.
The filmâ€™s multi-generational cast also features Rene Russo (â€œThorâ€), Andrew Rannells (â€œGirlsâ€), Adam DeVine (â€œPitch Perfectâ€), Nat Wolff (â€œThe Fault in Our Starsâ€), Anders Holm (â€œWorkaholicsâ€), Linda Lavin (â€œWanderlustâ€), Zack Pearlman (â€œThe Inbetweenersâ€), Reid Scott (â€œVeepâ€), newcomer Jason Orley, and Christina Scherer (â€œLiving with Uncle Charlieâ€).
In â€œThe Intern,â€ De Niro stars as Ben Whittaker, a 70-year-old widower who has discovered that retirement isnâ€™t all itâ€™s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Hathaway).
Meyersâ€™ behind-the-scenes creative team is headed by Oscar-nominated director of photography Stephen Goldblatt (â€œThe Prince of Tides,â€ â€œThe Helpâ€), Oscar-nominated production designer Kristi Zea (â€œRevolutionary Road,â€ â€œGoodFellas,â€ â€œTower Heistâ€), Oscar-nominated editor Bob Leighton (â€œA Few Good Men,â€ â€œNow You See Meâ€) and costume designer Jacqueline Demeterio (â€œThe Other Woman,â€ â€œThe Big Câ€).
