“Selena was the first Mexican-American voice I looked up to ever since I was very young. She spoke to young girls of my ethnicity and helped pave the way for all Latinas. I wanted to honor her by remaking one of her songs because I feel young girls today need to be exposed to more of her music which is timeless,” affirms Abrina.
“Missing My Baby” was released in 1992 and is part of Selena’s third studio album “Entre a Mi Mundo” (Enter My World). The song was originally created by her brother A.B. Quintanilla.
Abrina is one of the newer voices ascending in the Pop scene. Not only is she a beautiful and talented singer-songwriter, but the San Diego native is giving the music industry a fresh new sound infusing R&B and Pop elements with a bit of Latin flavor, creating her own musical mash-up.
Abrina turned a lot of heads in 2013 when she dropped her feel the smash single “Dat Good”, which featured Compton’s rising star Problem. On her follow up single, “Fall Back”, she was joined by multi-platinum superstar Baby Bash and garnered international attention with the song. In addition, Abrina spent most of 2013 touring and promoting the song in radio stations across the country. The release of her 2014 singles, “Blowin” feat. Jeremih and “Actin Up” feat. Eric Bellinger, were key in the build up leading to the debut of her highly anticipated EP, My Playground, which dropped January 2015. Currently, Abrina is working on her next project, My Playground II while on tour across the globe.
