Ela Minus (Dreamy Electro Pop)
Ela Minus (real name: Gabriela Jimeno)— is a dreamy electro-pop artist from Colombia, based in NYC, who fuses English and Spanish flawlessly, and just provokes the most wonderful daydreams. She’s buzzed around a bit because of her role as the drummer of the NYC indie band Balancer and has gone on to experiment with her own voice as Ela Minus. She recently released her first EP ‘First Words’ and will be releasing her second ‘Grow’ on March 4, both produced by Andres Nusser of the Chilean band Astro.
The Fader recently debuted the first track off of her upcoming EP ‘Grow’, calling it a promising track.
She’s also received early support from KEXP, NPR, Remezcla, and many more. She’ll be playing SXSW just after playing Nrmal in Mexico (alongside Deerhunter and Slowdive). She’s entirely captivating and has a promising career ahead of her!
Los Rakas (Hip Hop)
Los Rakas are a hip hop duo from Panama via the Bay Area that are currently celebrating their 10th anniversary as a group. They are known for maintaining a Latin flavor while delving into the more serious urban side of hip hop. Taking influences from Reggaeton and incorporating west coast style hip hop beats, Los Rakas are a sight to behold.
Their previously released albums have brought them onto stages around the world including Coachella, SXSW, Outside Lands, and many more.
Their self titled album is set to be released on June 10 via Universal and represents a matured side of the band, with the same goal as always– to help their community let loose and enjoy the music.

Pedrina y Rio (Alt-Pop)
Pedrina y Rio are an alt-pop band from Colombia made up of a student (Pedrina) and her former high school music teacher (Rio). They formed in 2012 and started gaining recognition around the country for their profound-yet-simple lyrics, uplifting melodies, and the unusual voice of the lead singer.
The duo released their first full length album in mid-2015: ‘Canciones Sin Ropa’. The album was produced by Ernesto Santos (Sidestepper,
Chocquibtown). On this album is the song ‘Enamorada,’ which became a ground breaking hit in Colombia, and was emblematic of the success the band continues to gain since releasing the album. On the streets and the internet alike, people are raving about their lyrical directness and the spontaneous combustion of genres within their music.
They come to SXSW just before playing the prestigious Vive Latino festival in Mexico.

Sexy Zebras (ROCK)
Sexy Zebras are a rock band from Madrid, Spain, who are constantly referred to as ‘unnapologetic’ and ‘Wild.’ After they released their first album in 22011, the country went crazy for them, they signed with Livenation Spain and Universal publishing. They went on to play some of the largest festivals in the country.
Their second album (released on their own label, Vagabundos Records) brought them to Mexico where they played alongside Daniel Johston and later went on to win an MTV award for ‘Best Spanish Band”.
Their third album is bluntly titled ‘Hola Somos Los Putos Sexy Zebras’ and was released early 2015. The band will be making a pit stop in Mexico before SXSW to record with Molotov and AJ Davila, among other greats.

El Freaky (Global Bass)
El Freaky- a global bass collective that has been setting dance floors around the world on fire since 2013. The group is known for their striking live show, using captivating visuals and lights against music that holds true to Colombian folklore and Caribbean roots. El Freaky has taken their party around the world- to everywhere from the USA to France to Peru and to prominent stages like Estereo Picnic (Colombia), Rock Al Parque (Colombia), Vive Latino (MX), and, of course, SXSW.
They released their first album ‘Sabroso,’ in 2013 which included a collaborations with producer Benny B, Alfredo Guiterrez, Charles King, and Empire Isis.
Naturally every occasion for El Freaky is a celebration- when their 5th anniversary came around, they celebrated with over 60 shows across Colombia and the rest of Latin America, the USA, Africa. They also released two singles ‘Summer Now’ (ft. Jamaican reggae star Gyptian) and ‘Bad Boys (ft. Mr. Lexx)’. El Freaky comes to SXSW just before they release their second studio album.

Cocofunka (Psych Rock)
Cocofunka is a psychedelic rock band from Costa Rica that got its beginnings in 2008. Known immediately for their fusion of musical genres, mixing indie, funk, rock, reggae, and alternative latin sounds, the band grew notorious in the Costa Rican scene.
For these six characters drawn from fiction, their particular energy and live show – a blend of psychedelic and dancing beats – has allowed them to be considered one of the top bands on Costa Rican music scene, having performed in more than 400 stages and festivals and travelled throughout Mexico, Peru, Nicaragua, Panama and USA.
