Founded in 2000 by Alexander Delgado, Gente de Zona (GDZ), comes from the slang term for neighborhood people since its style of music is said to have been created to combine the rhythms of traditional Cuban music and blend their own style to attract the young audience.
Gente De Zona has collaborated with other well known and legendary bands such as Habana Primera, Orishas, and Charanga Habanera while releasing international collaborations with artists such as El Cata, and most recently in 2014 with Enrique Iglesias and Descemer Bueno with the song “Bailando”. The success of “Bailando” has earned the duo 3 Latin Grammy awards, 3 Premios Lo Nuestro awards, 6 Latin Billboard awards and opportunities to perform on some of the most respected stages around the world.
Another hit single was “La Gozadera” alongside Marc Anthony which became an international success, reaching #1 on the radio and sales charts throughout the US, Latin America, and Spain. The collaboration between Gente de Zona and Marc Anthony proved to be such a success that they joined forces once again with the release of Gente de Zona’s newest single, “Traidora” which was released in November and is sure to become another mega hit for the superstar artists.
