Young Latin music fans are already rejoicing across social media at news that Latin Music’s two fastest-rising millennial stars are taking to the road together this fall, as J Balvin announces his first headlining tour with special guest Becky G. The skyrocketing Colombian urban trailblazer will take to the stage at theaters across the United States in September and October, with support from the young Californian bicultural star. Tickets for the tour, powered again by early J Balvin supporter Toyota (see full dates below) will go on sale on May 8th. With a quickly growing social media fanbase appreciative of his frequent ‘fans first’ communication, J Balvin has already been revealing dates and pre-sale codes via Instagram over the last few days.
“I am always talking about how important it is to chase your dreams and this tour becoming a reality is a perfect example of how important it is to never give up,” shares J Balvin. “After going on the road with Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull, I learned from the best on how to do it right. Now I can’t wait to get out there and perform a new show for my fans. I know Becky G is going to kill it on the tour and I am really grateful to Toyota for supporting us on the road”.
Born in Medellin, and now proudly acting as a social media force, and young global ambassador for an artistic and cultural renaissance underway in Colombia, J Balvin has been hailed by Billboard as “the biggest breakout act Latin music has seen in many years”. Creating a unique urban fusion that pulls from the early influences of Puerto Rico’s pioneering reggaton artists, both the distinct Colombian rhythms of his heritage and the contemporary sounds of a new street-level scene, and a love for progressive Hip-Hop and R&B, J Balvin is undeniably Latin music’s most significant new artist. This stature was confirmed again last week as he received the Billboard Latin Music Awards for New Artist of the Year, Latin Rhythm Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Songs Artist of the Year. This follows right on the heels of J Balvin’s recentsweep of ALL Urban categories at Univision’s Premio Lo Nuestro, where he left the building holding awards for: Urban Artist of the Year, Urban Album of the Year, Urban Song of the Year and Urban Collaboration of the Year. This unrivaled recognition for a new voice in Latin music stems from the chart-topping success of J Balvin’s powerful breakthrough album “La Familia”and back-to-back unstoppable #1 singles “6 AM” and“Ay Vamos.” With over 350 Million views and still growing, “Ay Vamos”continues to rank as The #1 Latin Video This Week On Vevo, And The Only Latin Song In The Top 10 (alongside artists such as Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Meghan Trainor, And Rihanna/Kanye West). Having already hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs, the smash Latin-Urban single is still going strong at #2 after 35 weeks on the chart and counting. In addition to the success of his own new music, J Balvin is highly in-demand as a collaborator, having already worked on Spanish remixes with the likes of Pharrell, Ariana Grande, French Montana and more. Driven equally as much by his irreverent humor and openness with fans, J Balvin is also a new online and social media powerhouse for Latin music – already notching over 3 Million Instagram fans, and an astounding ONE BILLION+ views on Youtube.
Becky G is a 18-year-old singer, songwriter, and rapper who is signed with Kemosabe / RCA Records. Kemosabe is the Sony Music Entertainment record label founded by hitmaker Dr. Luke. Becky is COVERGIRL’s youngest ambassador who has won several Disney Music Awards including “The Best New Artist” award in 2014, as well as both the “You’re So Fancy” and “Stuck In Our Heads” awards in 2015. Becky G was named one of TIME Magazine’s “Most Influential Teens of 2014” as well as one of Billboard Magazine’s 21 Under 21 (2014) Music’s Hottest Young Stars. Becky’s smash hit single “Shower”has over 105 million views on YouTube and was one of People Magazine’s 2014 Top 10 Songs of the summer. She has also scored her first #1 single “Can’t Get Enough” feat. Pitbull on Latin Billboard Charts. Becky recently performed her latest single “Can’t Stop Dancin'” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. In addition, she toured with Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Jason Derulo and will be touring with Latin urban music sensation J Balvin. Becky is currently in the studio finishing her debut album due out later this year.
After a very successful partnership with J Balvin during his participation on the Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull tour, Toyota is proud to, once again, be partnering on his first U.S. headlining tour.  The partnership will include the opportunity for consumers to engage in behind the scenes content of life on the road with J Balvin, as well as engage with the new Toyota Corolla at select tour markets. “At Toyota, we recognize that music plays an active role in Latino culture. Through our tour partnership with J Balvin, we will take front seat at this musical experience along with his fans throughout the U.S.,” – Jack Hollis, group vice president of marketing at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. Â
The excitement to now have another new headlining concert draw in Latin Music is echoed by tour promoter AEG Live, with Senior Vice President of Touring Doug Close commenting:Â “From the minute he joined us on the Enrique Iglesias / Pitbull tour, we could all tell J Balvin was heading for major stardom. It’s exciting when you see an artist who embodies so much street cred and commercial success at the same time – it’s like lightning in a bottle!”
