Nikki Cox, Jay’s wife and co-writer, is an actress, writer, and dancer who has been in the entertainment business since age four. Throughout her remarkable and diverse career, she’s worked with icons across various creative disciplines. Her resume includes such beloved shows as Mama’s Family, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Night Court, Murphy Brown, and Baywatch, among others. More recently, she’s been known for her roles in Unhappily Ever After, Las Vegas, and Nikki. She married Mohr in 2006 after meeting him on the set of Las Vegas. In 2011, they had their first son. It has been said that Nikki’s insomnia and late night TV-inspired musings have provided fodder for Jay’s acts; she gives him notebooks of her wry observations that he recites live–verbatim. The couple and their children, currently reside in Los Angeles.

Comedian, actor, radio host and best-selling author, Jay Mohr, is thrilled his new album, Happy. And A Lot., is nominated for a Grammy® Award for Best Comedy Album. The 58th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony takes place on Feb. 15, 2016, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.
Happy. And A Lot., taped during the Santa Barbara LOL Comedy Festival, for the first time in his career, was written entirely by Mohr’s wife, Nikki Cox. The hilarious set of intimate stand-up comedy features stories of their marriage, including anecdotes about raising two kids and great lessons in ironic behavior – the kind of material that can only come from two authentic comedy minds who have spent a decade together.
Upon hearing the news, Jay tweeted, “I finally found the perfect writer. Together we made our beautiful muse. Meredith Daniel. This morning we’re #Grammy nominated. Stunned.”
Through the lens of their marriage, the 21-track album explores everything from sexual vulnerability to the modern handlebar moustache and the legacies of Liberace, Bon Jovi and Journey. The special originally aired on Showtime ,where Mohr showcased his signature performance style, overflowing with swagger, sensitive badassery, effortlessly masterful comedic timing and sense of in-the-moment structure, which led the special to become one of the network’s highest rated of the year.
Mohr’s career spans more than two decades. Named one of the 100 greatest stand-up comics of all-time by Comedy Central, he began as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and has worked in comedy, television, radio and film. With a movie career spanning more than 30 feature films, co-starring 12 Oscar winners and more than 200 television appearances, Mohr has solidified himself as a mainstay in modern pop culture. Most recently, Jay appeared as Matt Damon’s brother in Clint Eastwood’s critically acclaimed Hereafter. Presently, he has his own nationally syndicated radio show five days a week – Jay Mohr Sports, and Mohr Stories one of the biggest podcasts in the world with over 30 million downloads .
