Nacional Records Celebrates

In conjunction with Lincoln Center Out of Doors concert series, Nacional Records kicks off their 10th anniversary celebration with a special show in New York City. Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich+Fussible (with special invited guest Wolfgang Flür – ex-Kraftwerk)  andJungle Fire will perform at Damrosch Park Bandshell on Thursday, July 23 at 7:30PM.  Nacional Records is proud to be part of the 45th edition of the popular outdoor summer festival at Lincoln Center.

Highlighting one of the first artists ever to sign to Nacional Records and one of the most recent, the free to the public concert promises to be another milestone event in Nacional’s growing history.

As part of their global farewell tour, Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich+Fussible will take the Damrosch Bandshell stage to perform music from “Motel Baja,” the third and final installment of their critically-acclaimed Border Trilogy, which includes the Grammy- and Latin Grammy-nominated albums “Tijuana Sound Machine” and “Bulevar 2000.” Also appearing as a special guest, as he did on “Motel Baja,” is the former Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flür/MusikSoldat.  Bostich (Ramón Amezcua) and Fussible (Pepe Mogt), the original co-founders of Nortec Collective, emerged from a burgeoning electronic scene in the late 90s in Tijuana, Mexico and invented a new style of music they called Nortec—a fusion of Norteño (“from the North”)—and Techno. Joining electronic music characterized by heavy dance beats and traditional forms of Mexican music performed with live instrumentation, Nortec Collective paved the way for a new generation of producers and DJs who reinvented electronic music from a global perspective. A radio station favorite across the U.S., “Motel Baja” made PRI “The World’s” list of Top Picks for 2014.

Los Angeles based Jungle Fire is a melting pot of Afro-Cuban rhythms, fusing classic break-beats, tropical cumbia, and 70’s-inspired West African funk. Their debut album “Tropicoso” reflects influences ranging from James Brown and Fela Kuti, to Ray Barretto and Irakere, all layered with a uniquely West Coast grit that has made the band a hit on the LA funk/soul scene. Carrying the torch of genre-defying iconic artists like War, Cymande and Manu Dibango, Jungle Fire has earned a reputation as a vibrant, passionate live band, known for their notoriously powerful concerts, and this concert marks their first-ever performance in New York.
