Nacional Records Celebrates Seven Latin Grammy Nominations

Leading independent label Nacional Records is proud to announce 7 Latin Grammy nominations across a variety of genres and categories, with nominations for Jarabe de Palo, Ana Tijoux and La Vida Boheme. In its first 9 years, Nacional Records has earned 67 Latin Grammy and Grammy wins and nominations.

Latin Grammy winner Jarabe de Palo is nominated for 3 awards, including  “Album of the Year” “Best Rock Song” and “Best Pop/Rock Album” for his latest record ‘Somos.’ Fronted by prolific songwriter Pau Donés, Barcelona-based Jarabe de Palo originally broke onto the international scene with their timeless smash hit “La Flaca.” Throughout their storied career, Jarabe de Palo has been nominated for 16 Latin Grammy’s and sold more than five million albums worldwide, collaborating with a wide variety of major artists such as Celia Cruz, Compay Segundo, Pavarotti and Chrissy Hynde (The Pretenders).

Ana Tijoux is nominated for 3 Latin Grammy’s, including “Best Urban Song” for the title track from her new album ‘Vengo,’ which debuted #1 on the iTunes Latin charts and has earned strong praise and multiple features at Newsweek, NPR, Billboard, Spin, Rolling Stone, NY Times and more. ‘Vengo’ is the follow-up to Ana Tijoux’s Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated album ‘La Bala,’ which was widely celebrated by critics as one of the best albums of the year. The buzz around Ana Tijoux has been steadily building since her Grammy nominated debut ‘1977’ was featured in ‘Breaking Bad,’ ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars‘ and EA Sports’ FIFA video game.  Ana Tijoux is also twice nominated for “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year” for “Universos Paralelos,” her collaboration with Academy Award winner Jorge Drexler.

After winning “Best Rock Album” for ‘Será’ at last year’s Latin Grammy’s, La Vida Boheme is once again nominated this year for “Best Music Video” for “Flamingo.”  NPR Music chose La Vida Boheme’s Latin Grammy-winning sophomore album ‘Será’ as one of their ’50 Favorite Albums of 2013,’ after iTunes celebrated the band as the ‘Latino Breakthrough Artist of 2011.’ La Vida Boheme was nominated for a Grammy and two Latin Grammy’s for their debut record ‘Nuestra.’ Their music appears in the hit video games Grand Theft Auto V and FIFA.  Esquire magazine writes, “When I saw La Vida Boheme  at SXSW, I flashed to seeing The Clash in 1979. It was the fierceness, the original sound, the hodgepodge of styles — it was the clash of cultures and sound.”
