The Hunger Games characters made a splash on the big screen this year, and their costumes are certainly a hot item. Dress your kids up as Katniss and Peeta for a fun children’s costume idea. These costumes are also great for adults and women can braid their hair if Katniss’s signature style or even dress up and go with someone else as a couple’s costume. This is a fun one to wear, especially since the first half of the final film is going to be released shortly after Halloween.
You’re probably tired of hearing Frozen songs being sung at all times of year, but since the movie was released at the end of 2013, it’ll be a big part of the costume selections this year. If you don’t want to go as Elsa, consider dressing up as the snowman or even paint your face blue, add some icicles, and tell people that you’re “frozen.”
The Fifa soccer world cup was huge this year, and with the U.S. still pretending to be interested in soccer, why not jump on that wave? Go as a the German soccer champ or think outside the box and appear as a flopping player who falls when you have the smallest amount of contact with anyone. This is a great men’s costume, especially when going with a group of friends.
Comic books made into films are certainly nothing new, but Guardians of the Galaxy appeared to dominate the universe this year and it’s a great choice for families, groups, or even just yourself. If you really want to have fun with your costume, get a small model of the galaxy and then carry it around, but don’t let anyone hold it. It’s a low-effort type of costume and the type of pun that most people enjoy.
shia labeouf - paper bagShia LeBeouf has had an interesting year, and if you’re out of ideas for costumes, put a paper bag on your head that reads “I am not famous anymore.” Everyone remembers that reference, and it’s easy to put together. Pair that with the tux Shia wore to the premiere of his film Nymphomaniac and you’ll have a funny costume that only cost a paper bag.
