Lights, Camera, Action! The cheers and chants poured from the crowd as they waited to see the Queen of Latin Pop Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda better known as Thalia. The Mexican pop singer/actress holds many titles including now Fashion Designer to her resume. She is internationally known for her hits and telenovelas. Thalia presented her women’s collection Thalia Sodi exclusively at Macy’s, which features clothes, shoes and fragrance. In celebration of her new line, a fashion show and a meet and greet were held. The first 150 customers who made a purchase of $75 or more from Thalia’s collection (prior to event) received her latest CD Amore Mio to autograph. Fans of all ages waited on line to attend the Thalia Sodi fashion show on the 9th floor. This show was the first segment of the event with limited seating due to VIP and press.
It was free and open to the public except for the autograph signing. Once seats became available, those without passes were able to attend by filling the extra seats or stand.
The launch of this collection was the first time ever Macy’s presented a runway show on a non-clothing floor. The production was a similar style to NYFW and Tommy Mottola and Tommy Hilfiger were both in attendance. I was very impressed with the layout knowing that it wasn’t a typical store event. Despite being public, the look made it feel invite only. Throughout the show, models strutted signature collections that looked like hot sellers. Applauds and screams were heard all throughout the room. Cameras flashed from all angles including selfies to post on your favorite social media sites. As soon as Thalia left the stage, fans rushed to snap a pic with minimal security. Most made their way to the 3rd floor to meet their icon.
