Walk inside 50 Varick Street in soho and you can to a space that is seemingly in-Tribeca-ish, but walk inside and the gravity of excited and wonder draw you in like a moth to the flames of a bunch of little fires in a campground. Since I had already gotten my badge a few days before, I totally skipped that part of the process, but from what I saw it was a straight forward process.
The hub was covered on the 5th, 6th and 7th floors with the 7th floor only having a Lincoln Black Label filmmaker event. I decided to wander around first just to get a feel for the whole layout, but booths really attract and you want to automatically learn more. Most booths have a wait list that you can sign up for, but be warned, you really should get there early so that you can get your name on the list to experience them. I added my name to most and asked one person how long the wait was and he said “honestly, it’s like 6 hours right now” wow!
From the Mr. Robot Hackathon to the Other room, it was a great experience all around. My favorite part was the Whiteness Project which I will be talking to them to bring a piece on the website. In the meantime:
