Proctor & Gamble’s Orgullosa program is an online community that was created to bring inspiration and empower Latinas. Orgullosa hosted its third annual #livingfabulosa event at The Paley Center for Media in NYC. The event was sponsored by P&G and Be Moxie for an evening of beauty, panels, and mentoring sessions. Special guests and panelists shined on the red carpet as they showed support for a great cause. The event was full with guests attending the red carpet, beauty bar, and panel.
The beauty bar had styling sessions with guests receiving curls and braid hairstyles using some of the P&G brands. The bar featured some of the best brands including pantene pro v, secret, Crest 3D white, olay, venus, and covergirl, which guests were able to take off of the shelves as gifts. Orgullosa also provided special edition t-shirt representing different spanish cultures.
Award-winning Actress and activist Diane Guererro hosted the panel featuring leading women in various industries. The panelists included singer & songwriter Raquel Sofia; Vixen Workout founder, Janet Jones; personal branding expert, Emmelie De La Cruz; Project Enye founder, Denise Soler Cox; Head of Multicultural Marketing at Google, Eliana Murillo for a session on mentoring, growing up as a Latina, confidence, and immigration. Diane had a bright personality and showed her comedic chops throughout the panel. She experienced a lot of hardships including the deportation of her family at an early age.
Despite tragedies, she can relate to others in similar situations and has spread the word about immigration reform. The group of panelists are second generation of Colombians, Dominicans, and Puerto Ricans. Each of these women instill traditional values and credits their families as mentors for their success. Diane, Raquel, Janet, Emmelie, Denise and Eliana were one of the very few Latinas enrolled at their colleges and broke barriers in their careers.
